Vegan Chocolate Cookies - Awesome To Be Vegan

All these Banana Oatmeal Cookies are hands down the very best banana flavored cookie I have ever had. Not only are they are moist and simmer for days, they're unmistakably banana-y.

Banana may be one of these flavors that can get lost when you inhale with this. It can be very subtle flavor. It always bums me out once that happens, because I really like the taste of banana. And thus does the hubs.

When great flavored banana treats come along, we move a little crazy for them.

These biscuits make the list of banana things to go mad for. Without a doubt.

And they're so moist, they almost melt in your mouth. In addition, with both banana and oats inside them, they're basically healthy, right? And ideal for breakfast!

Creating them is equally as simple as eating them.

You begin by mixing all those lovely components together.

I must warn you. The odor of the mixture -- together with the banana -- is intoxicating. The hubs was in the kitchen making the dough together with me (we made a bargain that contained him with me) and we both had to work hard not to place our faces, or a straw, straight in to it.

You then add all the dry ingredients (which means you simply use one bowl yay!) And combine it all together!

To bake them, spoon out about a tablespoon of dough and create a thick disc, instead of a chunk. They spread a bit when baking, so don't put them too close together. Bake them for approximately 10-12 minutes for a fine, moist cookiecutter. So yummy!

1 additional thing I really like about this recipe is where it came from.

My grandmother (my dad's mother ) passed away in 2008. Once I started baking a lot a couple of years ago, my uncle gave me her cookbook he'd had and didn't use. I have had it on my list to produce a number of her desserts since.

It was a tradition for my grandma to make them every Christmas! She gave everyone a large tin of them, which was really an effort with 6 sons.

I now know precisely how much of an accomplishment it was! My goodness. She made them with a conventional gaufrette iron that goes over an open flame. My dad and I had them on the stove. They cook very fast and you have to be exact. Too little time and they sort of disintegrated into the iron. Too long and they burnt to the iron and we needed to clean it out.

My dad was minding the batter and taking away the cookies, I had Web Site been operating the ironthe hubs was time things. It took quite a few tries to get it right, but they were so great! I've attempted to create them on my own and it never works. I'd like to share the recipe, however, the dang irons are so tough to discover. And pricey. It's such a fun recipe book to look through, too. There are so many handwritten pages, including clippings and newspaper recipes which were taped to the publication. I really like the way that they used to write recipes at the paper -- they had the man who submitted it is title and adorable little tales. It's so fun to read ! What another time on the planet!

Anyways, I don't really know where this recipe came out. The newspaper looks like it was on a flier out of their square dance band or something (they were big to square dancing). It is definitely from West Virginia, where they lived.



Either way, I am so glad to finally talk about a recipe from her book with you! I made a couple of adjustments to make them thicker and more puffier and they're delicious. There will be more to come from her recipe book, but for now like the banana.

MOIST AND CHEWY BANANA OATMEAL COOKIES

Return: 34-36 COOKIES

 


INGREDIENTS:



1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup mashed bananas

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 tsp ground cloves

2 tsp cornstarch



DIRECTIONS:

1. Mix together egg, brown sugar, egg, sugar, vanilla extract and mashed bananas until well blended.

2. Add flour, cinnamon, baking soda, cloves and cornstarch and mix until blended.

3. Stir in milk.

4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

5. Flatten dough just a little bit, into thick disks. They will disperse a little when baked.
